VDSL- Modems 30 MBit

VDSL (Very High Bit-Rate Digital Subscriber Line) is the latest member of the xDSL family of technologies and it promises data rates up to 2 x 15 Mbit/s over a single pair of copper, as in telephone installations, and this up to a distance of 1.2 km, in some cases up to one mile.

The VDSL data does even co-exist with telephone or ISDN data on the same pair of wires, without having the burden of installing external splitters, as these are included in the equipment.

VDSL has many similarities with ADSL but in addition a number of advantages:

  • It can run up to 15 Mbit/s in both directions making it better suited for business applications than the asymmetric ADSL.
  • It is based on Ethernet transport and not ATM, as ADSL, making VDSL easier to implement and lowers the cost of the back bone infrastructure at the provider side. In addition it lowers the cost at the central office side due to the simple concentrator required instead of the ATM DSLAM needed for ADSL.
  • The higher bandwidth enables future technologies as streaming video, HDTV, or digital video, which all cannot be supported by ADSL.
  • The VDSL solution delivers everything needed to quickly deploy an Ethernet-based network with the performance required to deliver high-speed Internet access at much greater distances than Ethernet can do and drive services like IP telephony and audio/video streaming. With this technology, a broad range of customers can benefit from lower operating costs and rapid deployment. The VDSL solution provides multicast, Layer 2 quality of service (QOS), Link Aggregation (LACP) dynamic trunking group, security, GVRP, IGMP for VOD (Video on demand) and SNMP RMON management and Web-based Switch network management.

MDD Multi Data Digital

presents VDSL Modems that leverage the extraordinary bandwidth promise of VDSL technology, the next step in the delivery of new high-speed Internet applications to end-users in their homes or offices. VDTU01(CPE) is a customer premise equipment (CPE) device, meaning it is external to personal computers or other Internet access devices and is usually located in the individual hotel rooms, apartment or office suites. The VDTU01(CO) is the central office version for small installation, not needing the 8 or 24 port concentrator.
